The new Swiss German University (SGU) campus now only has one student lounge to serve all students, compared to two in the old campus.

Student lounge chef Tommy said every day his team changed the food menu to make the student not bored.

“We make Indonesian and International food,” he said.

For Indonesian food, for example, the chef said the lounge served three different menus a day like chicken, fish, meat, and vegetables.

Tommy also said the food prices were relatively affordable for SGU students.

Students have complained over the quality of the food in the student lounge.

By the end of this year, SGU would establish a food court, in which the food would be cheaper than those in food court outside campus.

The library in the new Swiss German University (SGU) needs more staff members and furniture to improve its service to students, a librarian says.

Maria Lamury said currently the library only had two staffs, who are not enough to handle the new and bigger library.

“We need two more staffs for now…but overall we will ask for four staffs,” she said.

About the furniture, she said that the library needed more tables for students to read books.

However, Maria quickly added that the furniture could be added once the library moved to the round building early next year.

The Swiss German University (SGU) will double its internet speed in the new campus from one megabyte to two megabytes in April, a senior official recently said.

“It [the better internet connection] is part of our commitments to improving the learning process for students and lecturers,” an Information Technology (IT) department official, James Purnama, said.

He added SGU would build hotspots in the entire campus buildings, but at present, the hotspots are only located in the two faculty buildings.

Students welcomed the plan to increase the internet speed in the new campus.

“It will be great if SGU could realize its new internet speed plan,” Kresna Perwira Caraka, a student from business administration faculty, said.
